Automatic Gearbox Servicing – Colchester

Having your automatic gearbox serviced regularly at RB Motors is an essential part of maintaining the health and longevity of the gearbox and your vehicle.

How do I know if my automatic gearbox needs a service?

There are several signs to look out for, and if you notice any of them, it’s time to get in touch with the team at RB Motors.

• Jerky gear changes – If you’re shifting gear and notice that it’s taking longer than it should for the gear to change, it could be a sign that the gearbox fluid needs changing or that there is some other issue with one of the many components that make up the gearbox.
• Gears slipping – If the engine revs go up but the speed of your vehicle doesn’t, this could be the transmission slipping out of gear, which can be a sign of wear and tear or low fluid levels.
• Strange sounds – If you hear any clunking or whining noises when you’re changing gear, it’s time for a service.
• Leaking fluid – We do sometimes see signs of leaks under our cars, the one that could suggest problems with your automatic gearbox will be red or reddish-brown. If you see this colour of fluid under your vehicle, give the team at RB Motors a call straight away.
• Your vehicle is shuddering – If your vehicle shudders, especially when you’re accelerating, this can suggest gearbox problems.

Catching and dealing with problems early can avoid more complex, costly repairs later.
